Welcome to my first ever blog post! Some of you may know I lived in the Phoenix area for 5 years while I attended ASU, but somehow I never made the 5 hour drive to Page, Arizona. So just a few weeks back, I decided to make the trek to the small town to explore Horseshoe Bend and some of the canyons out there. Pictured below is the hike down to Horseshoe Bend. I parked my car along the long string of cars of tourists and people hiking up to see it. I decided to follow everyone who was walking in that direction since I was a bit lost and wasn’t really expecting to stop and go to Horseshoe Bend right when we got there. But what better time than now, right? It was sunset, and people seemed to be flocking over to it so it was worth a shot there. After about a mile-long hike, we made it to the famous Bend just as it was about to turn dusk. Pictures just cannot do this beautiful landscape justice, you will have to make the trip out there yourself to truly experience all the beauty!

After the trip to Horseshoe Bend and the mile long hike back to the car, we were exhausted. So we decided to stop for the night in a Marriott in Page, found a local restaurant there and then rested for the next morning. The next day we found a local place that provided a tour of Cathedral Canyon, which is smaller than Antelope Canyon but the perks of going to this lesser populated canyon was that we could take our time and really explore everything! Our tour guide had us pile into his old Ford Explorer (which you could tell had been down this desert path at least 300 times before). He was a local from the area and knew the best spots to stop and get a few cool shots of the mountains. After a VERY bumpy road and a little motion sickness, we finally made it to the entrance of the canyon. It was very narrow, and required a little bit of bouldering to get through to the depths of it. But once we got there, it was just incredible. The rocks were beautiful shades of red and orange, and once we got into the canyon the light was hitting the rocks at such a cool angle. Highly recommend making your way out to Cathedral Canyon if you are ever in the Page area, it was a trip I will never forget.
