Napa Valley Wedding

This week’s blog post is about a recent wedding that I was an assitant shooter for one of my favorite photographers, Justin Lee Photography, up in Napa Valley. Napa is a 2 hour drive from my apartment, and you better believe I will take the opportunity to travel to wine country whenever it arises! It was a gorgeous, September day over Labor day weekend. The wedding took place in the family’s private estate & vineyard for an intimate backyard wedding!

The drive to this estate was one-of-a-kind. I traveled down some of the backroads in downtown Napa, exploring the area a bit since I always like to have extra time to prep for a wedding. Once I drove closer to the mountains, I followed a winding road all the way through the redwoods of Mount Veeder. The road followed a stream about 20 feet below, with sunlight filtering through the trees, and a sharp drop right at the side of the road. It was such a peaceful drive… at least in broad daylight. Finding these tucked away, beautiful places in the forested hills of California has been one of my favorite things to do since moving here. I’m so blessed to be able to explore such an amazing part of the world for my job.

Just after the (emotional and beautiful) first look, the bride and groom wanted to read their vows to each other, alone, without their friends & family watching them. Justin offered to record it, since they had no videographer, and we knew this is something they would want to look back on. It was just the two of them, reading them to each other and having a moment together. The love between them was completely written all over their faces - it is obvious that they are soulmates!
