Chicago Riverwalk Engagement Session | Miranda & Mitch
Hi there!
This is an exciting post for me, because these two allowed me to photograph their engagement session! I was so happy to capture the love between her and her fiance Mitch.
Miranda is actually the first friend of mine to get married! I am so honored and excited to be a bridesmaid on her special day. I have so many incredible memories with Miranda - laughing about my Oberweis milkman, playing Silent Hill, and celebrating her 16th birthday together, just to name a few. I am so happy for Miranda to have found someone so perfect for her as Mitch.
I vividly remember the day that Mitch asked me to come to their apartment in the city to be there for the proposal. Mitch was having a few friends over for his birthday, and let us all know that he was going to be proposing to Miranda that night. We were all so excited for Mitch to finally propose, that all night we would all just take turns giving Mitch glances and raising our brows at him. After a few hours and a few drinks, he finally got on one knee and asked her - and you all know of course she said yes! Naturally I brought along my camera (if I leave the house, it’s basically glued to my hip), and captured the shot pictured below, just moments after she said yes.
Fast forward a few months. We decided to photograph an engagement session in downtown Chicago! We started it all off at the Adler Planetarium, which has the best view of the Chicago skyline, and just so happens to be my absolute favorite place in the city. I used to go to that spot all the time because it was so peaceful and beautiful; you can listen to the waves crash against the path, and watch the sun set over the illuminated skyline.
Miranda wore a stunning red dress, and Mitch was looking sharp in his black suit.
Next stop was Millennium Park, another one of my favorite spots in Chicago. We were walking along, and Miranda pointed at one specific staircase and said “we have to take a picture here”. I asked her if there was any significance to this spot, and she told me that this was the exact step that they both said I love you for the first time! I thought that was just the sweetest thing - I absolutely love to capture moments between couples in a place that has significant meaning to them. It warms my heart.
Last but not least, we decided to visit the Chicago theater and the Chicago riverwalk on our way back to Miranda’s apartment. The sun was starting to set, and by the end of our session we were photographing during the gorgeous “blue hour”, which happens just after the sun sets on the horizon.
They also had made this record specifically for this photoshoot! It said Miranda & Mitch on one side, and the other side had M&M with the wedding date. My favorite touch was that this record was from the band Chicago.
This was such a fun adventure with these two, and I was so happy that they asked me to take their engagement photos! I can’t believe one of my childhood friends is getting married, but I couldn’t image a more perfect match for her, and I am SO excited for this wedding in August. Congratulations to Mitch & Miranda. :)
